Taylor
Taylor Swift may be the most unusual of pop stars: an artist who could successfully cross the divide between pop and country while sweeping the globe. Swift removed her roots in the country like they were a second skin to reveal that she was arguably the smartest popular singer/songwriter in her generation someone who was able to harness the current zeitgeist and make it personal and just as impressively perform the reverse. Swift's first hits, particularly the neo celebration of Tim McGraw, showed off her skills. The album from 2008 Fearless showed a singer-songwriter who was beginning to discover herself, and gaining a huge following. Fearless was a huge success not just in America and six of the singles were certified platinum on the back of Top Ten hit songs Love Story and you Belong with Me. But it also performed well around the globe. Swift took off to the peak of the charts after the release of Speak Now. Swift's popularity grew throughout the three albums that followed - Red (2012), 1989 (2014) and Reputation (2017). Swift had now established herself in the genre she was a part of. As she cut her style with the stripped-down releases of 2020, folklore and Evermore but she was still at the top. This position was maintained through re-recordings of her previous catalog as along with Midnights, her synth-heavy chart-topping 2022 album.
